De AI 4 Belgium Coalition stelt haar strategie voor op vraag van Vicepremier Alexander De Croo en Minister Philippe De Backer op maandag 18 maart 2019.

Om België klaar te stomen voor artificiële intelligentie brachten De Croo en De Backer een veertigtal experts van de academische en bedrijfswereld, start-ups en overheid rond de tafel (de volledige lijst in attendance link hieronder).

Enkele opvallende namen zijn Pattie Maes, die aan de Amerikaanse topuniversiteit MIT het ‘Media Lab’ leidt; Luc Van Gool, specialist in beeldherkenning aan ETH Zurich en de KU Leuven;  Marc Raisière, CEO Belfius; Hans D’hondt, voorzitter FOD Financiën en Pieter De Leenheer, CTO Collibra, de eerste Belgische ‘unicorn’ die net 100 miljoen dollar ophaalde.

Ook Vice-Voorzitter van de Europese Commissie Andrus Ansip is aanwezig om de AI-strategie in ontvangst te nemen en Europese samenwerking te benadrukken.

Met deze AI 4 Belgium-strategie bevestigt de regering het potentieel van AI voor ons land. Technologiefederatie Agoria schat dat digitalisering en AI tegen 2030 860.000 jobs zullen creëren. Uit een enquête uitgevoerd door de FOD Economie en IPSOS, (bekendmaking resultaten 18/3/2019), blijkt ook dat 72% van de Belgen vindt dat AI kan bijdragen tot een verbetering van de samenleving. Denk maar betere en goedkopere geneeskunde. Tegelijkertijd is 85% van de Belgen ook bezorgd over de impact van AI op hun privacy. Ook dit luik wordt behandeld in de AI 4 Belgium-strategie.

The AI 4 Belgium Coalition presents its strategy at the request of of Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Minister of Digital Agenda Philippe De Backer on Monday 18th of March 2019.

To prepare Belgium for Artificial Intelligence, De Croo and De Backer have brought together more than 40 experts from the academic and corporate world, startups and the public sector. (the complete list of names in attendance link below)

A few remarkable names in the AI 4 Belgium Coalition: Pattie Maes, AI pioneer, leading MIT’s Media Lab; Luc Van Gool, Professor at ETH Zurich and KULeuven, Head of Computer Vision Laboratory; Marc Raisière, CEO of Belfius; Hans D’hondt, president FPS Finance, Pieter De Leenheer, CTO of Collibra, the first Belgian ‘Unicorn’ that recently raised 100 million dollars.

Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of The European Commission, will be present to receive the AI Strategy and highlight European collaboration.

With this AI 4 Belgium strategy, the government confirms AI’s potential for our country. Technology Federation Agoria estimates that digitization and AI will create 860,000 jobs by 2030. A survey conducted by the FPS Economy and IPSOS (results announced on 18/3/2019), also shows that 72% of Belgians believe that AI can contribute to improving society. Think of better and more affordable healthcare. At the same time, 85% are concerned about the impact of AI on their privacy. That part is also dealt with in the AI 4 Belgium strategy.
